In a letter issued by the Under Secretary to the Government, Sheetal Choudhary, to the Commissioner of Survey and Land Records, a copy of which lies with the Srinagar-based news agency Kashmir Dot Com, the government requested input on the formation of the board in accordance with Section 13 of the Waqf Act, 1995.
The letter stressed the importance of gathering feedback from experts and community representatives to ensure that the proposed board aligns with the specific needs and aspirations of the Shia community in Jammu and Kashmir.
The government, as per Kashmir Dot Com, has also sought the views of National Conference’s Member of Parliament from Central Kashmir and prominent Shia leader, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, on the constitution of the Shia Waqf Board. (KDC)
