SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department on Wednesday predicted multiple spells of rain and thundershowers across various parts of Jammu and Kashmir until September 3, with the possibility of dry weather conditions afterwards.

According to MeT officials, the region will experience generally cloudy weather with light to moderate rain and thundershowers at most places on August 28-29. A spell of light to moderate rain and thundershowers is also expected at many locations on August 30.

From August 31 to September 1, there is a forecast of brief rain and thundershowers at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. The weather from September 2-3 is likely to be generally cloudy, with scattered rain and thundershowers.

However, the weather is expected to remain dry from September 4-7.

The officials warned of the possibility of intense showers for brief periods at some locations, with heavy rain expected at isolated places in the Jammu division until late night/early morning on August 30. Additionally, heavy rainfall is anticipated at isolated places in the south Kashmir division on August 29. These conditions may lead to flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in some vulnerable areas.

A drop in daytime temperatures is expected, with a chance of light snowfall over isolated higher reaches on August 29. (KDC)
