Srinagar: In a swift response to intelligence inputs regarding an attempted infiltration by a group of terrorists through the general area of Kamkari in the Machhal sector, the Indian Army’s 57 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 53 Infantry Brigade launched a well-coordinated operation to thwart the attempt, army said.
An official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that at approximately 1940 hours, vigilant troops detected movement in the area and quickly established contact with the infiltrating terrorists, leading to an exchange of gunfire. A fierce firefight ensued between the terrorists and the security forces, he said.
As operations continue in the area, further details are awaited, the officer said, adding that the search of the area will be conducted after first light to ensure no remaining threats and to secure the zone. (KDC)
