SRINAGAR: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti Saturday unveiled the party’s manifesto at its Srinagar headquarters, outlining its vision for regional stability and the restoration of statehood ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Reaffirming the party’s stance that the removal of Article 370 was unconstitutional, the PDP’s manifesto focuses on addressing regional instability, restoring statehood, and various socio-economic initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people in the region.
While unveiling the menifesto, Mehbooba Mufti according to Srinagar-based news gathering agency Kashmir Dot Com took a dig at National Conference and Congress saying, “J&K issue isn’t a matter of 370 or statehood or seat sharing, J&K issue is a human issue which needs to be addressed.”
She also challenged the National Conference (NC) and Congress to adopt the PDP’s stand on resolving the Kashmir issue, saying, “Forget alliance and seat sharing. If Congress and NC are ready to adopt our stand of resolving the Kashmir issue, we will give all the seats to them.”
She also announced that if elected, she would work to lift the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and restore their assets.
The manifesto, as per Kashmir Dot Com, promises to address regional instability through engagement with neighboring countries and to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
It also includes a commitment to repeal the Enemy Act, Public safety Act and Unlawful activities Prevention Act. Among other major proposals, the PDP has pledged to fast-track the regularization of daily wagers, return power projects to the state, and upgrade the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) into a university.
The manifesto highlights plans to promote border tourism, abolish anti-people laws, and support Kashmiri Pandits with housing and land provisions.
Additionally, the PDP aims to reintroduce the Mufti Syed food entitlement scheme to improve food security and nutrition, particularly for women and children. (KDC)
