Srinagar, Aug 14: Two former J&K Chief Ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday expressed their condolences and sympathy to family and colleagues of Captain Deepak Singh who was killed during a fierce encounter in Assar area of Doda district today.

The leaders while hitting hard to J&K administration over ‘normalcy claims’, said the endless cycle of violence and mayhem in Jammu and Kashmir continues to devour the lives of innocents.

National Conference vice president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah in a post on X said: “Another young army officer lays down his life in the line of duty, this time in an encounter in Doda. It is highly unfortunate that the situation in some parts of Jammu region has been allowed to deteriorate like this”.

“May Captain Deepak Singh’s soul rest in peace. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family & colleagues,” Omar said.

PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti said, “No words will suffice to express the tragedy at Doda today where Captain Deepak Singh was killed during an encounter,” Mufti wrote on her official X-handle.

“The endless cycle of violence & mayhem in J&K continues to devour the lives of innocents despite tall claims of normalcy by the administration,” she wrote.

“My deepest condolences to his family,” she added.
