JMC organises awareness programme on Environmental Management of Dairies, Gaushalas

JAMMU, AUGUST 10: MVO section, Jammu Municipal Corporation today organized an awareness programme on Environmental Management of Dairies/ Gaushalas and adoption of scientific dung disposal mechanisms.

MVO, JMC, Dr. Jaswant Singh, VAS, JMC, Dr. Divya Sharma and other officials of Veterinary section of JMC were present in the programme.

The dairy owners and gaushala operators of Anand Nagar, Bohri were invited in the programme for making them aware regarding management of dairies/ gaushalas and proper scientific dung disposal mechanism  viz. Biogas Plant, Vermi-compost unit, compost pits etc. to be adopted in the dairy units.

VAS, JMC, Dr. Divya Sharma appraised during the program that Jammu Municipal Corporation has taken various initiatives regarding regulation of Dairies and Gaushalas operating within JMC limits in line with guidelines of Central Pollution Control Board regarding Environmental Management of Dairies and Gaushalas and FSSAI norms.

She informed that 80 Dairy Units fulfill the said criteria as per the guidelines of CPCB and FSSAI norms. They have installed Biogas Plants, Vermi Compost Units and adopted other techniques for scientific disposal of Dairy waste have been registered by the JMC in the first instance and the process is going on to register/regulate all the Dairy units/ Gaushalas operating within JMC limits.

MVO, JMC, Dr. Jaswant Singh emphasized the importance of adoption of Central Pollution Control Board guidelines issued in terms of directions of NGT so that every bit of Dairy waste generated is properly recycled and utilized as manure and energy.
