Srinagar, July 27: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday expressed grief over the tragic road accident in Daksum, Anantnag.
The Lieutenant Governor passed directions to the district administration Anantnag to provide necessary assistance to the affected family.
In a condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor said: “I am deeply saddened to learn about the loss of precious lives in an unfortunate road accident in Daksum, Anantnag today. My thoughts and prayers are with bereaved family members during this hour of grief. I have issued instructions to the District Administration to provide all necessary assistance to the affected family”.
An official said eight people including a policeman and five children died in a road accident on Sinthan-Kokernag route in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.
He said the vehicle they were travelling in was coming from Madwa Kishtwar via Sinthan top, adding that postmortem was conducted at SDH Kokernag.
The deceased have been identified as: Imtiyaz Rather (45) S/o Ghulam Rasool Rather R/o Kishtawar; Afroza Begum (40), W/o Imtiyaz Ahmad Rather, R/o Kisthwar; Reshma (40) W/o Majid Ahmad; Areeba Imtiyaz (12), D/o Imtiyaz Ahmad; Aniya Jan (10), D/o Imtiyaz Ahmad; Abaan Imtiyaz (6), D/o Imtiyaz Ahmad; Musaib Majid (16), S/o Majid Ahmad; and Mushail Majid (8), D/o Majid Ahmad.
