SHOPIAN, JULY 21: Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb today held a crucial inter- departmental coordination meeting today to review the ongoing efforts for the destruction of Cannabis and Poppy in the district.
During the meeting, Haseeb emphasized on concrete measures to curb the drug abuse and destruction of Poppy crop across the district.
The progress of eliminate of the drug abuse & cultivation of Cannabis & Poppy in major hotspot areas, including Zainapora, Wachi and surrounding regions was examined during the meeting and plan of action was discussed for proper and effective implementation.
The meeting was informed that 450 kanals of land under Cannabis cultivation or plantation has been marked for destruction.
On the occasion, DC directed the officials to deploy adequate and well equipped teams to ensure the thorough destruction of identified Poppy crop. He also directed for inter-departmental coordination to effectively combat the menace.
The meeting was attended by SDM Zainapora, Additional SP, Tehsildars, Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) and other officers.
