Kulgam, July 06, KDC: Two separate encounters are underway in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
An official said, In the first incident at Madergam village, a fierce gunfight between militants and security forces resulted in the killing of an army soldier. The operation is still ongoing, with security personnel continuing their efforts to neutralize the hiding militants.
Shortly thereafter, a second encounter commenced in the Frisal Chinniagam area of Kulgam. Militants have reportedly been trapped, and joint forces, including the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF, are actively engaged in the operation.
Security measures have been intensified across the district.
