Srinagar, May 15, KDC: In a significant development amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to arrive on a visit to Srinagar tomorrow evening, sources in New Delhi confirmed to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com.

Arriving Thursday evening, Shah is expected to extend his stay overnight, gearing up for a series of meetings with diverse delegations, they said.

Scheduled interactions include engagements with civil society representatives, delegations from Gujjar and Bakarwal Community  and BJP Karyakartas, offering a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas. The timing of Shah’s visit is notable, aligning with the electoral fervor sweeping across the nation.

Notably, the BJP has abstained from fielding candidates in three seats within the Kashmir Valley, underlining the nuanced political landscape of the valley.

The recent Lok Sabha polls in Srinagar PC witnessed a notable turnout, surpassing previous records dating back to 1996. The electorate’s active participation reflects a burgeoning interest in democratic processes within the Valley.

Looking ahead, Baramulla and Anantnag-Rajouri constituencies are slated for polling on May 20 and May 25, respectively, in the ongoing seven-phase electoral exercise. With results earmarked for declaration on June 4, the political landscape remains charged with anticipation. (KDC)
