Chadoora, April 16, KDC: Prominent statesman Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) on Sunday lauded the decision by the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) and district Administration Budgam to initiate an electric bus service from Chadoora to Srinagar city via Jahangir Chowk to SKIMS through the Qamarwari route.

In a press statement, Mir expressed hope that the service will alleviate the commuting challenges faced by the locals of Chadoora Constituency who have had to rely on alternative routes to reach the city.

According to Mir, the introduction of ten electric buses on this route is a positive development that will bridge the transportation gap faced by locals in their daily commute.

“I am also looking forward to seeing the number of buses increase in the future, taking into account the huge public rush from Chadoora to Srinagar,” he added.

Mir also highlighted the historical significance of the newly introduced bus service for the area, as it was initially established in 1972 by Ghulam Mohammad Mir (Lasjan) during his tenure as Minister of Industries and Commerce.

“Mir Sahib was a stalwart and visionary leader who started this vital bus service for the first time and then ensured its operation in 1986 when he served as the Minister of Transport & Food supplies. However, subsequent governments in Jammu and Kashmir had put an end to the service due to their vendetta against the people of Chadoora,” he said.

Despite the service’s previous cancellation, Zaffer Mir conveyed his satisfaction at the restoration of this crucial bus service, which was originally initiated by Mir Sahib to alleviate the sufferings of the local populace.

Additionally, he praised the proactive efforts of the Budgam Administration, especially the Deputy Commissioner, in addressing this long-standing demand of the local population.

“The service will undoubtedly make travel more accessible and convenient for the residents of Chadoora, and it is hoped that the initiative will inspire the government to consider similar schemes for the welfare of the people of Chadoora and Budgam,” he added. (KDC)
