Srinagar, Feb 17, KDC: The body of 26-year-old civilian who came underneath a snowslide in Machil area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district has been retrieved, officials said.
An official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that one Aijaz Ahmad Tantray, son of Ghulam Hassan Tantray, a resident of Ringbala, who was alongside his wife, came under a snowslide near Kul Bugh this afternoon. While his wife had a narrow escape, Tantray got trapped under the snow, he said.
A rescue operation was immediately launched by locals and army at the site, the official said, adding that after hectic efforts the body has been retrieved and was handed over to his legal heirs for his burial after completing all legal formalities. (KDC)
