Bandipora, KDC: After voluntary retirement from Jammu and Kashmir bank as senior executive manager, Nisar Ahmad Lone has formally joined electoral politics and has made up his mind to contest upcoming assembly election from Gurez constituency of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Lone who was a teacher before joining Jammu and Kashmir bank wields a lot of respect and standing in Bandipora district especially in his native area Gurez. After retiring from active service. Lone received a warm welcome at his native place Gurez from his friends and all well-wishers. He took voluntary retirement, two years ahead of his official date of retirement.
Speaking on the side-lines of a function, Lone according to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com said he had decided to contest the elections as an independent candidate from Gurez constituency. Coming down on the successive representatives heavily, Lone said the Gurez constituency has been ignored by Nazir Ahmad Khan and Faqir Ahmad Khan as a result people have been facing immense hardships. The Gurez constituency is lacking in every aspect. Dilapidated roads, lack of medical facilities, no power supply and shortage of drinking water.
No politician or MLA’s who served Gurez gave heed to the repeated pleas of people. Had previous MLAs taken a stand to get miseries of people redressed during the last 20 years of their tenure, things would have improved and been different today. I want to be the voice of voiceless people. I will refurbish the face of the entire Gurez assembly Constituency, if voted to power. I will flourish the Gurez constituency and will try to make it another tourist place that will also help the youth here to get jobs, adding that the village has great potential and needs to be explored, he said.
I have my own roadmap for the development of Gurez and will do my best to implement it and will leave no stone unturned to provide people with a sigh of relief at their doorstep, he emphasized.
I will give due credit and honour to each voter and supporter. The incompetence of previous representatives have pushed back whole constituency in all sectors and no progress has been recorded in the core sectors. He urged his supporters to launch a vast contact programme and reach out to the masses. (KDC)
