Baramulla, July 04, KDC: The Department of Media Studies, Skill and Research Centre in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education and Sports of Government Degree College Baramulla conducted the Cosco Cricket tournament at Showkat Ali Stadium, Baramulla. The tournament was played between 29th of June – 4th July with all the Media Departments from different universities joining in.

The final of the tournament was played on Monday between Media studies GDC Baramulla and Central University.

Media studies GDC Baramulla won the toss and chose to bat first and won by 3 runs. With six wickets down they made 105 runs, with Dr Danish Nabi – HOD of the department – becoming the highest scorer and man of the match award winner. Saqib Bashir, Media student from GDC Baramulla was awarded the man of the tournament.

Professor Shahid Rasool – dean of media department central University – expressed his thoughts about this tournament saying that it has made students come out of the pandemic that lasted for years.

“It is a great initiative taken by Media Studies GDC Baramulla to bring Media students of the valley together. It creates team spirit and it is a good media activity for students. It also helped students to socialize with different students” said Professor Shahid Rasool.

Dr Danish Nabi – HOD Media Studies GDC Baramulla – thanked all the teams for coming down for this event. He also thanked and appreciated his own team for their performance especially in the finals.

The ending ceremony was accompanied by principals of different colleges in Baramulla District.

Principal GDC Baramulla – Farooq Ahmad Rather – appreciated Dr Danish Nabi for initiating the tournament and bringing the departments together.

“The students and staff not only play on the field but exchange ideas which is important for both the sides to grow” he added.
