Srinagar, June 16, KDC: People’s Conference State Youth President and Former Deputy Mayor Sheikh Mohammad Imran on Thursday expressed serious concern over the future of thousands of students enrolled in numerous schools run by Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT) that has been ordered to cease all its academic activities by the Government.

In a statement issued to KDC, Imran said that banning the trust is an administrative prerogative but the future of the students and teachers working in these institutions must not be put at stake and a comprehensive policy should have been devised to ensure their studies & employment is not hampered.

Imran said the concerned authorities could still hand over the reins of these schools to other reputed & competent educational trusts instead of suspending the very functioning of these institutions and ordering a mass exodus of its students by getting admissions in the nearby government schools.

“I do understand that the requisite investigation about the working of Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT) remains the sole domain of concerned agencies but in the meantime securing the future of these students, teachers & non-teaching staff is also an important responsibility of the government. The rehabilitation & absorption of these students in other reputed schools as per the necessary educational standards is undoubtedly a herculean task which has only added to the existing perils of the parents and students alike,” he said.

Imran asserted that noxious effects of Covid-19 pandemic have already shaken the functioning of our educational system immensely and thus taking such drastic steps at this crucial point of time is not viable for the welfare of the students.

“I request the Lt. Governor led administration to review this order and make necessary changes in it so that the students have not to suffer in the middle of their academic year besides ensuring that their studies are not disturbed and an ample chance is given to them to shine and excel just like their peers in other educational institutions,” Imran appealed.
