Srinagar, June 16: (KDC) A nocturnal gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Hangalgund area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Reports reaching KDC that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Hangalgund.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
Kashmir Police zone in a tweet also said “Encounter has started at Hangalgund, #Kokernag area of #Anantnag. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
A senior police officer also confirmed to KDC about exchange of firing between militants and security forces. (KDC)
