Pulwama, May 17, KDC: Youth act as catalysts of change and development besides playing a vital role in transforming societies into progressive and prosperous ones, said the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq on Tuesday.
Addressing hundreds of youth in a programme under the banner ‘Vision Pulwama 2047 – Be the Change’ held at Arihal hamlet in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Mr Haq reiterated his commitment to transform Pulwama into a self-reliant economy besides envisioning its youth as leaders of the future.
Youth from all age groups participated in the event which witnessed unprecedented participation. The aim of the programme was to create a connection between youth and civil administration besides addressing the issues and challenges being faced by youth on a daily basis.
Scores of youths and individuals apprised the officer about the problems faced by them in day to day life. They also submitted various developmental demands before the DC.
The youth submitted a memorandum and charter of demands projecting various issues including Playfield, Anganwadi Centre, Veterinary Centre, Shamshaan Ghat at Saidapora, Ration outlet, improvement of roads, providing better supplies of drinking water and electricity facilities, Implementation of various Government-sponsored Welfare schemes on the ground so that the local youth is benefitted and generated employment avenues, upgrading the education system and healthcare facilities were also raised during the event.
