A policeman was shot dead by militants in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday, officials said.
A police official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that the head constable Ali Mohammad son Ghulam Qadir Ganie was fired upon by militants at Hassapora area, leaving him critically injured.
He was immediately shifted to SDH Bijbehara where doctors declared him dead.
Soon after the attack the entire area was cordoned off and searches launched; however nothing found and the CASO was called off.
A case is also being filed in this regard and further investigation is on, he added. (KDC)
