Srinagar: The State Executive Committee of the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Sunday extended the COVID-19 containment guidelines in J&K till further orders.

As per the order, the government reiterated that the tuition centers offering coaching for lower classes would continue to remain closed for onsite and in-person teaching.

However, the government said that the coaching centers offering coaching for civil services, engineering, and NEET exams would be allowed to function with the limited in-person teaching for fully vaccinated staff and students.

“The head of the coaching centre offering NEET, JEE, and civil service exams will ensure that the guidelines related to social distancing and COVID-19 protocols are adhered to,” the order reads.

The rush of the students preparing for civil services examination and various national level competitive examinations increases in the coaching centres during the winter.

“The already notified COVID-19 containment guidelines in J&K will continue to remain in force till further orders,” the order reads.

The government has also instructed the Department of Health and Medical Education and the Department of Disaster Management to sensitise people about the COVID-19 variants of concern including the Omicron variant.
