POONCH, DECEMBER 06, KDC: To commemorate the 65th death anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar observed as Mahaparinirvan Diwas, District Administration Poonch in collaboration with Social Welfare Department and NSS department of Government Degree College today organised a tribute paying function here on the College campus.
The tribute paying function started with the singing of National Anthem.
District Development Council Chairperson, Tazim Akhter was the Chief Guest at the event.
The Chief Guest emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar devoted himself towards the cause of freedom of India from the British and at the same time he fought bravely for inducing Samrasta in the society.
She also appealed to the public to follow the footprints of Shri Bhim Rao Ambedkar and urged upon the youth to come forward in the developmental process.
General. Manager DIC, Dr. Zakir Hussain also paid floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar. Prof Fateh Mohammad Abassi, conducted the proceeding of the programme and also threw light on the life history of Dr. B.R Ambedkar.
The College Principal Prof.Mussarat Hussain Shah said that Dr. Ambedkar contributed to the freedom of India as a leading lawyer and aborted the evil designs of the Britisher. He said that Dr Ambedkar will continue to be a source of inspiration for centuries to come and India can never forget his great contributions. .
A Symposium on the life and work of Dr Ambedkar was also held for the students of government degree college. Prof. Dr. Farooq Ahmed, Prof. Dr. Tabassum Naz, Prof. Shaista Parveen acted as judges.
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winner students.
Ruksana Koser bagged first prize, Depankar Dutta got 2nd prize and Fatima Bi bagged third prize.
Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi, General, Dysp, Hqr, District Social Welfare officer, Shakeel Ahmed besides college faculty were present. (KDC)
