Srinagar, July 25, KDC: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Sunday said that with great efforts by the health and allied frontline departments and active cooperation of public at large, we have been able to contain second wave of COVID-19 in a much better way and better than many other states of the country.
President DAK, Dr M. Yousuf Tak, in a statement said that Second wave of COVID-19 caused more morbidity and mortality due to high virulence and infectivity of mutated Corona Virus (Sars-Cov2) as compared to first wave, however second wave was managed in a more organised way given the experience gained during management of first wave and subsequent infrastructure build up.
Dr Owais H Dar, Gen Secretary DAK said that covid restrictions have taken a heavy toll on economic and education fronts and it will take a lot of time recuperating from this insult but a lot of it also depends on behaviour of general public viz-a-viz Covid Appropriate Behaviour famously called as CAB. The Presumptions about 3rd wave of Covid-19 and its impact will depend on the role which general public plays now. If all people follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour and get vaccinated as early as possible, the possibility of 3rd wave and its impact will significantly be lower than 2nd wave, he added.
Risk of third wave is looming large in the world and equally in our region said Dr M Ashraf Mir Senior VP DAK.
Serosurveilance and other studies show that the two important factors to determine the 3rd wave are the susceptibility of a section of population and the possible mutations which may occur in the virus. However the behaviour of people regards COVID protocol and the vaccination are the interventions which will predict the timing and extent of third wave Said Arshad H Trag Vice President DAK.
Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) urges people to adhere to the COVID appropriate behaviour religously and get Vaccinated as early as possible to defeat the possible third wave.
