Sopore, May 23, KDC: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers in Puthkha area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement to News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) – Sopore police said that continuing its war against the drug menace arrested four chronic drug peddlers and recovered huge contraband of drugs from their possession.
Police Party of police post Putkha led by SHO Police Station Tarzoo Insp. Bilal Khanday and IC PP Puthkha SI Sajad Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Raja Majid- intercepted an Eco van bearing registration number JK01Q 1280 at Naka near Wagub crossing during checking huge quantity of contraband which includes 666 tablets of SPASMOPROXYVON Plus were recovered from their possession.
They identified the accused persons as Muzamil Ahmad Lone @Setha
S/O Late Ghulam Muhammad Lone R/O wagub Lone Mohalla, Azad Ahmad Sheikh S/O Muhammad Arif Sheikh R/O Tarzoo Astan Mohalla, Mehraj din Bhat @Inam S/O Abdul Ahad Bhat R/O Amargrah Sopore and Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh S/O Abdul Ahad Sheikh R/O Panzipora Lone Mohalla.
It is pertinent to mention here that all four accused were notorious drug peddlers of the area. During preliminary enquiry they revealed that the accused were selling the drugs to youths of the area at exorbitant rates & make them drug addicts, it said.
Accordingly case FIR No. 48/2021 U/S 8/22, 27-A, 29 NDPS Act registered in police station Tarzoo and further investigation has been taken up. General public have hailed the action of Sopore Police, statement added. (KDC)
