More than a dozen Covid Positive pregnant ladies deliver healthy babies after rare surgeries at DH Bandipora

BANDIPORA, MAY 21, KDC: There is a palpable change at District Hospital Bandipora with improvement in healthcare facilities, dedication and hard work of the medical and paramedical staff besides augmentation of the infrastructure.

Since the day, DH Hospital was dedicated as COVID Level-III hospital, more than a dozen pregnant ladies delivered healthy babies after rare surgeries despite expecting mothers suffering from comorbidities.

Doctors worked tirelessly to fight corona virus and deal with related emerging agencies.

A team of doctors at District Hospital Bandipora including Dr Fancy Bulbul, Dr Yasmeena, Dr Manzoor Gul, Dr Ishrat Mir, Dr Swaiba, Dr Nazima Khan along with Amjad Ali, Senior Theatre Technician, Hilal Ahmad Theatre Technician, Irshad Ahmad Theatre Technician and Showkat Beigh, Nursing orderly under the overall supervision of Medical Superintendent, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad and able guidance of Chief Medical Officer Bandipora Dr BA Khan are working round the clock to  treat the COVID positive  patients besides rare surgeries are being conducted on pregnant ladies to deliver healthy babies.

Eight patients delivered healthy babies by way of Lower Segment Cesarean Section while four patients had a normal delivery. The babies were isolated from mother soon after the delivery to protect babies from contracting the virus.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad has congratulated the team of doctors for conducting rare surgeries at the hospital. He said administration is making all efforts to augment healthcare services to ensure that the patients, especially  Covid-19 affected patients  are treated well.

Dr Owais said adequate measures have been taken for strengthening the system to fight the war against Covid-19 and in this regard bed capacity has been augmented at various health facilities  and COVID care centers in the district besides making High Flow Oxygen Plant functional at Covid Level-III Hospital.

He said sufficient quantity of oxygen supply has been made available by commissioning a medical oxygen plant at DH Bandipora to further strengthen the oxygen support system besides having ample stock of bulk oxygen cylinders.

He said the OPD services of DH have been shifted to Old DH Complex to avoid rush at the Level-III hospital and all the sections of OPD have been made functional at the Old DH including labor room, Gynecology section, Dental Section, Pediatrics and other departments. He said the COVID positive  patients including positive pregnant ladies are being treated at the COVID dedicated hospitals.

Dr Owais appreciated the medical staff for working beyond duty hours and walking extra mile in ensuring the relief to patients. (KDC)
