Srinagar, May 19, KDC:  Former Legislator and senior Peoples Conference leader Mansoor Hussain Sohrawardhy has expressed dismay over the dismal functioning of the GMC Anantnag wherein the attendants are crying foul over the lack of basic health infrastructure amid the prevalent crises.

He said in a statement according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com that it is unfortunate that disturbing videos of the attendants in the hospital have turned viral wherein the pathetic state of functioning of the GMC Anantnag is getting highlighted. “Recently a video of a young boy narrating the saga of how his family members died due to the COVID in the hospital whereas the hospital staff didn’t bother least in providing the ailing patients any sort of medical treatment. Such a situation is exposing the patients to severe risks and putting attendants in crises,” Mansoor said.

He added that the viral video in question has been later authenticated by a reputed media wherein the dismal state of functioning at GMC Anantnag came to fore.

Mansoor said that there is a dearth of ventilators, oxygen supplies and non- utilization of resources. He added that the mismanagement calling shots in the hospital is extremely worrying and that the government is not providing least attention. “The patients are crying for help. The critically ill COVID infected persons who need ventilator support aren’t reportedly provided the same. There is also acute dearth of even basic medicines in the hospital. Keeping in view the large chunk of area the GMC Anantnag is catering to, the government must take immediate measures to address the crises in the hospital,” Mansoor said, adding that besides Jammu and Srinagar districts the government must emphasize proper medical care in the hospitals and health centers of other districts as well like Anantnag, Baramulla, Doda, Kishtiwar and various other far- flung areas wherein people are craving for better health care facilities.
