Srinagar, May 15, KDC: Two alleged drug peddlers who were arrested by Bandipora police on yesterday have escaped from the police custody in Ajas area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on the intervening night of Friday- Saturday.
Sources told News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that two drug peddlers identified as Mubashir Ahmad lone and Showkat Ahmad Sheikh, both residents of Ajas have escaped from the custody of police post Ajas and the searches are on to trace them.
According to Bandipora police, both the alleged drug peddlers were arrested on yesterday with Charas hidden in maize leafs was recovered from their possession in Bazipora area.
Meanwhile DIG North Kashmir Sujit Kumar told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that an additional FIR has been registered against the escaped drug peddlers and searches are on to trace them adding that SSP Bandipora is himself monitoring the incident.
He said he will enquire the whole incident in detail.
Earlier, a drug peddler also escaped from the police custody in Sumbal area of the district and was later arrested by the police. (KDC)
