Srinagar, Mar 15, KDC: Agricultural land is under severe threat as construction of illegal structures is going unabatedly in various areas specially in Palpora, Noorbagh of Srinagar city .

According to news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), more than 40 illegal structures have shown up in Palpora, Noorbagh areas of the city. These structures include shops, buildings, complexes etc.

The construction of these illegal structures has created mess in the city and its common man who continues to suffer.

Mohammad Isaac, a resident of Palpora while talking to KDC said, “Nobody is taking notice of the illegal activity happening in this part of the city, the agricultural land is under deep threat”.

“The side beds of the river have also been encroached, every time there is rain, flood threat looms over our heads”, added Mohammad

Not only this particular area many other wards in both uptown and downtown have witnessed a surge in these constructions.

There have been enormous complaints from the public in the past regarding the illegal constructions in other parts of the city. Many news stories in the past have also tried to highlight the issue but Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) seems to be in deep slumber.

The citizens of this particular locality have requested the deputy commissioner Srinagar and the newly appointed commissioner to look out on this matter on priority basis and protect the unlawful conversion of agricultural land. (KDC)
