Srinagar, Feb 25, KDC: J&K Students Association on Wednesday urged Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha to re-advertise and reframe eligibility criteria for Horticulture Graduate Students.

In a joint Statement to news agency KDC, Vice President Junaid Rather and General Secretary of Association Danish Lone urged LG administration to address the genuine grievances of Students without any delay. It is absurd that one-year diploma holders (BHT) are eligible for Horticulture Technician-1V posts whereas the professional degree holders (B. Sc. Horticulture graduates) are not eligible.

Despite holding master’s and doctorate degrees in horticulture, all are jobless, not a single post has been advertised for the degree holders, Junaid added.

General Secretary of Association Danish Lone said that since the inception of Horticulture degree in Jammu and Kashmir, not a single Horticulture professional has been absorbed in the department due to faulty eligibility criteria and non referral of posts. One-year diploma holders are declared as eligible for horticulture Technician-IV posts whereas professional degree holders (B. Sc. Horticulture Graduates) are treated ineligible for the same, he said, adding that since one and half decade, not a single BSC professional got employed. All the skill, pain and time put into this sector has been lost in aspirations of a career in the same.

Spokesperson of Association Nasir Khuehami said that Students conveyed the higher authorities their genuine problems many a times but their pleas fell on deaf ears. He said that the government is ruining the careers of hundreds of Horticulture Graduates. Khuehami Urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to Urgently look into the matter and reframe eligibility Criteria for Horticulture Students. (KDC)
