Sumbal, Jan 05, KDC: Amid ongoing heavy snowfall across Kashmir valley, the offices of Power Development Department and Jal-Shakhti division Sumbal were seen closed & attendence witnessed in both the offices was null on Tuesday in Sumbal area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
The district administration had established control rooms in case of emergency due to the prevailing inclement weather  in the valley, and the employees seem to have dodged the formal orders and have left townsmen in troubled waters.
Locals told news agency Kashmir Dot Com-(KDC) that they are facing hardships as the control rooms established by the district administration Bandipora at Sumbal sub-division are locked up and no employee of both the departments attended their offices today.
“Both AEE’s and other staff of both Jal-Shakhti and PDD departments were off the duties” they said.
Meanwhile, efforts to contact Deputy Commissioner Bandipora didn’t materialize as he didn’t pick up the repeated calls from KDC.Locals have demanded stern action against the erring officials of the concerned departments.
While talking to news agency KDC, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, PK Pole said,  “I have directed the SDM Sumbal to inspect both the offices and sumbit the report to my office positively”.
“Every employee associated with essential services has to be present on their place of postings. I have directed every DC and SDM of the valley to inspect the offices of essential services”, he added.

Meanwhile, widespread heavy snowfall has created havoc across the valley and disrupted normal life. Meteorological department has predicted a significant improvement in weather from 7th of January. (KDC)
