Bandipora, Jan 04, KDC: The residents of Kulnar Gujarpati Bazipora area of Ajas in North Kashmir’s Bandipora are up in arms against the Jal-Shakti department over the rampant water shortage plaguing their area for the last two months.

Agitated locals while talking to news agency Kashmir Dot Com-(KDC) said that they had been facing acute water shortage for the past 60 days as the pipelines are blocked due to the non-seriousness and non-maintenance by the officials of the concerned department.

“We have approached the concerned officials of the Jal-Shakti department several times in the past two months but our repeated pleas have fallen on deaf ears,” they said.

They alleged that people are being forced to drink water from ponds and nullahs, owing to acute water shortage. “We have apprised the authorities of our miseries but they are not paying heed to our demands,” they added.

Meanwhile, Executive Engineer Jal-Shakti Division Bandipora ,Abdul Khaliq assured KDC that he will look into the matter and redress their grievances as soon as possible. (KDC)
