Srinagar, Dec 13, KDC: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday recovered contraband substances & cash in Ganderbal and Awantipora districts respectively.

Huge quantity of contraband substances & cash was recovered in a series of actions against local narcotic cartels in Ganderbal and Awantipora districts respectively. Five peddlers have been arrested narcotic substances and cash amount of rupees thirty two thousand were recovered from their possession.

In Ganderbal district a checkpoint was established at Sumbal Bridge and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK07- 0744 with two persons on board, 300 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. Persons onboard were identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad War and Manzoor Ahmad Raina both residents of Resin Kullan Ganderbal and are taken into custody. Police has registered has initiated action under FIR No.248/2020 under relevant sections of law in Police Station Ganderbal.

Similarly in Awantipora, Officers intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01AK-9899 at a checkpoint near Gas Plant in Literbal Pampore with three persons on board. 13 kg of poppy straw concealed in a bag and cash amount of ₹32,000 was recovered from their possession. Persons carrying the contraband were identified as Yawar Yousuf Sofi, Lateef Ahmad Wani both residents of Kadlabal Pampore and Bilal Ahmad Shiekh resident of check Pehru Budgam. Case vide FIR No. 104/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been set into motion. All the 3 arrestees have been taken into custody.

Both the vehicles used in the commission of crimes have also been seized. (KDC)
