Srinagar, Dec 08, KDC: Amid ongoing District Development Council elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the administration once again on Tuesday placed PDP President Mehbooba Mufti under house arrest at Gupkar residence here in Kashmir Capital Srinagar.
A PDP leader told news agency Kashmir Dot Com-(KDC) that Mehbooba Mufti was scheduled to visit Budgam district of Central Kashmir as part of DDC election campaigning.
“However, the administration has not allowed him to leave the house,” he said.
Pertinently, The PDP and the National Conference have repeatedly criticized the administration for preventing them from campaigning while their DDC candidates are not allowed to leave their homes in the name of security, which could affect the election campaign.
Earlier, Mehbooba Mufti was barred from visiting the house of PDP Youth President Waheed Rehman Parra in Pulwama district.
However, the government has repeatedly denied the allegations made by the parties in the Gupkar declaration, saying that no person or party is barred from campaigning.
Besides, Jammu and Kashmir Police had also issued a statement in which they said, “Mehbooba Mufti was prevented from going to Pulwama only on security grounds.” (KDC)
