World AIDS Day: DH Bandipora organizes Mega Awareness Camp

Bandipora, Dec 01, KDC: The Department of Health Bandipora on Tuesday organized a function to observe World Aids Day in collaboration with District Administration Bandipora.

The program was attended by Doctors, Paramedics and other staff of the Department wherein experts delivered lectures regarding consequences, prevention and control of AIDS.

Speaking on the occasion DDC Bandipora Dr, Owais Ahmad threw light on the theme “Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Resilience and Impact”. He stressed on creating mass awareness regarding AIDs and a discourse in society to make efforts to increase HIV awareness and remove the social stigma attached to it and called for an increased response and coordinated efforts to move towards ending the HIV epidemic.

He said, we need strength more than ever to beat the colliding epidemics of HIV and COVID-19 He said people’s cooperation is essential which enables society to get rid of the colliding epidemics of HIV and COVID 19.

Dr Owais Ahmad hailed efforts of Doctor and healthcare workers for management of COVID-19 Pandemic impressed upon the health workers to work with more zeal and dedication for the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic. He also directed to update the District Task Force for AEFI and ensure that all district level officers and other line department and associated people are given information and counseling about AEFI. He also felicitated several workers for their exemplary works during the current COVID19 pandemic. 

Highlighting the importance of the day, the Chief Medical Officer Bandipora said that the day is celebrated worldwide to renew our efforts to save the lives of patients suffering from this dreaded disease. He said the day reminds us of our duties towards the AIDS patients and we have to adopt a sympathetic and human approach towards such patients and encourage them to lead a normal life, adding that these patients need our sympathy and we must treat them with positive approach. He said observing only one day in the name of AIDS is not sufficient, but throughout the year the fight must continue.

Later DDC also participated in a workshop organized by WHO in Collaboration with Dy.CMO office Bandipora regarding Acute Flaccid Paralyses (AFP) and Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI). DDC said everyone should be aware about immunization and awareness is the key factor in this regard. He said we have to work promptly, efficiently, and with scientific rigour during immunization programmes and this can be done with the collective efforts. He said mass awareness throughout the year should continue through various mediums available.
