DEO takes stock of arrangements

Baramulla, Nov 28, KDC: According to District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo, a total of 215 candidates are in fray for Phase-2 of the upcoming District Development Council (DDC), Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies by-elections scheduled to be held on 01 December, 2020 in the district.

Those in fray include 32 District Development Council (DDC) candidates for 02 DDC constituencies of Kunzer and Zaingeer, 34 Sarpanch candidates for 21 Sarpanch vacant seats while, 08 Sarpanch candidates have been declared as elected unopposed.

For 298 vacancies of Panch seats, 232 panch candidates have been declared as elected unopposed thereby leaving 147 candidates in fray for 66 vacancies besides 02 candidates are in fray for phase-2 of ULB by-elections.

Meanwhile, DEO chaired a meeting with the concerned officers to take stock of various arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of Phase -2 of the elections. He emphasized upon them to work in coordination and formulate a viable mechanism in this regard. (KDC)
